Connecting Meta Ads

Last updated February 17, 20263 min read

Connecting Meta Ads allows Greylytics to create and manage a Custom Audience on your behalf. Bad leads from your CRM are automatically hashed and added to this audience, which you then use as an exclusion on your ad campaigns.

Before you start

  • You need a Meta Business Manager account with access to the Ad Account you want to connect.
  • You need to be an Admin or Owner of the Greylytics Space.
  • The Meta account you use to authenticate must have Advertiser or Admin access to the Ad Account.

Connecting your account

Open Space Settings

Click Space Settings in the top navigation.

Go to the Ad Settings tab

Select the Ad Settings tab. You'll see the Meta Ads connection section.

Click Connect Meta Ads

Click the Connect button. A Meta login window will open.

Log in to Meta and grant permissions

Log in with the Meta account that has access to your Ad Account. On the permissions screen, Greylytics requests access to manage Custom Audiences. Review and click Allow.

Select your Ad Account

After granting permissions, you'll be returned to Greylytics and prompted to select the Ad Account you want to connect. Choose the correct account from the dropdown.

Name your Custom Audience

Greylytics will create a new Custom Audience in your selected Ad Account. The default name is Greylytics – Bad Leads – [Space Name]. You can customise this before confirming.

Confirm the connection

Click Confirm. Greylytics creates the audience and the connection is complete.

Applying the audience as an exclusion

After connecting, you need to manually apply the Greylytics audience as an exclusion in Meta Ads Manager. Greylytics manages the contents of the audience, but applying it to campaigns is done in Meta Ads Manager.

  1. Open Meta Ads Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Ad Set you want to protect.
  3. In the Audience section, find the Exclusions field.
  4. Search for your Greylytics audience by name and add it.
  5. Save the Ad Set.

Tip

Apply the exclusion audience to all active ad sets in campaigns targeting new leads. This prevents your budget from being spent re-targeting people you've already qualified out.

What happens after connecting

From this point, every bad lead that Greylytics receives from your CRM will be automatically added to the Custom Audience within a few minutes. You can monitor sync status from the Dashboard.

Token expiry

Meta access tokens expire approximately every 60 days. When your token is near expiry, Greylytics will show a warning banner on the dashboard. See Meta Ads token expiry for how to reconnect.
